ELDER BOARD NOMINATIONS
Hello Hope Family,
As we prepare for the upcoming Elder Board selection, we invite our entire Hope City Church congregation to begin praying for this process. Please pray for each of the candidates, the Elders who are completing their terms, and those who will continue serving on the Board. We’re grateful for each person willing to serve and ask God to give us wisdom and discernment as we move forward together.
We also encourage you to take a few minutes to watch Pastor Chris’ video message below. In it, he shares more about Hope’s leadership philosophy, how elder candidates are prayerfully identified and approved, and our long-term vision for the Elder Board. If possible, please watch the entire video so you can hear both the heart behind our current nominations and our ongoing commitment to developing a healthy, well-rounded board for the future.
After watching the video and prayerfully considering the candidates, we ask all Hope City Church members to participate in voting. In-person voting will take place on October 4, on the patio. Members who cannot be present that day may vote via email to office@hope-citychurch.com. Unsure if you are a member stop by the HUB Sunday morning to verify.
Thank you for praying and participating in this important part of the life of Hope City Church.
NOMINEES
Jim Petrie
I am honored and humbled to be considered as an elder for Hope City Church. My wife, Joanne, and I have been together for 19 years and between the two of us we have six children and four grandchildren. I have been a member of the church for about 25 years. I am currently serving on the Steven Ministry Team, the Water Ministry on Saturday mornings, and the Safety Team. I have a passion for people and I believe we are all made in God‘s image. God has made us all unique and gifted in different ways with the ultimate purpose to glorify His name. My gifts are encouraging and uplifting people and serving our church community.
Steve Sewell
I'm excited to serve as an elder simply because I care about our church, its people, and where God is leading us together. With over 40 years of experience in pastoral ministry, counseling, teaching and chaplaincy, I am deeply committed to serving Hope alongside my wife, Karen. At our church, I currently help with pastoral care and provide counseling support when called upon. Serving as an elder feels like another opportunity to quietly come alongside our pastors, leaders, and church family—to listen, pray, encourage, and help wherever I can.
In addition to the two candidates here are the Elder Board Members to be affirmed for their second (two year) term:
Amy Weiler
David Ensz
Terry Catlin
Voting will take place on October 4, 2026
